In summer 2026, the exhibition “New Baltic Painting” brings to the gallery of the Viscosa Cultural Factory a selection of fresh, vibrant and polyphonic Baltic painting. The exhibition brings together more than one hundred artists aged 40 and under from Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, offering viewers a cross-section of how a new generation uses, shifts and redefines painting in an era where the visual space is fast, digital and saturated.
“SMS. WIFI. OK.” — abbreviations understood in the same way in Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian — refer to a shared space of communication where meaning moves quickly, succinctly and across borders. The exhibition title connects this linguistic common ground with the experience of a younger generation: a world in which the exchange of information is fragmented, intense and constantly being recoded. “New Baltic Painting” asks how painting functions in such an environment — as a slow, bodily and materially present medium.
The focus is on painting as a mode of thinking and perception in an age defined by visual excess, digital speed and screen-based experience. Colour, surface and material are not merely formal tools here, but ways of relating to space, identity, emotion and history.
As part of the Invego x Art collaboration, Invego supports the exhibition with a mission to value young art and help bold, inspiring creative work find its way into beautiful homes.
