The architectural competition for the Keila Pargikodud residential district, which will bring around a hundred new homes to the heart of Keila, was won by Apex Arhitektuuribüroo. The first homes are scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2025.
“We organized the architectural competition with the aim of bringing top-level Estonian architecture to Keila. We chose Apex Arhitektuuribüroo because their concept not only showcased excellent architecture but also best fulfilled our goal of creating the most livable environment between buildings, emphasizing the value of the park area and greenery. Their well-thought-out parking solution and the way the buildings integrate into the natural surroundings were also decisive factors,” explained Kristjan-Thor Vähi, CEO of real estate developer Invego, highlighting that the winning design helps preserve 2.7 times more trees than originally planned in the detailed spatial plan.
According to the winners of the Keila Pargikodud architectural competition, developing the concept was a special experience for them. “The location and environment are more challenging than usual, but all the more inspiring. It’s a rare opportunity for architects to design a residential area so deeply integrated with a park and mature greenery. In such cases, the design must be largely guided by the character of the location,” said Apex architect Ove Oot, who created the concept together with Liisi Vähi and Signe Kits.
The Keila Pargikodud residential area will consist of six apartment buildings with an A energy rating, comprising about a hundred 1- to 5-room apartments with balconies and terraces. The development by Invego will be located next to the pine park in the center of Keila, covering a total of 30,000 square meters. The homes are set to be completed in 2025.
