Following last week’s completion of Parka Kvartāls residential district, the project has now received further recognition at the Latvian Construction Annual Award (Latvijas Būvniecības Gada Balva). Developed in partnership with Reterra, the residential development was honoured among Latvia’s most notable construction projects of the year.
The award was presented by Eerik Marmei, the Estonian Ambassador to Latvia, adding particular significance to the occasion given the cross-border collaboration behind the project.
Organised by the Building Design and Construction Council, the Latvian Construction Annual Award is one of the country’s most important industry events, recognising projects for architectural quality, sustainability, functionality and innovation.
Parka Kvartāls was designed to bring more light and greenery into everyday living. Located at a distinctive four-street intersection, the homes feature generous glazing – including corner and bay windows – that open views across the surrounding neighbourhood. During construction, many existing trees on the site were preserved, including specimens of local and national importance, allowing residents to enjoy a newly built home set within established, mature greenery. Each apartment includes private outdoor space in the form of either a balcony or a garden.
The result reflects the work of a strong project team, including construction partner SIA Mapri Būve and the architectural team Tectum, led by Uldis Bērziņš.
